Pastor Matthew Konen

Matthew began his relationship with Jesus during his junior year of high school when God sent several separate believers to speak truth into his life. He began attending a local high school youth group and after graduating high school, began volunteering with middle school youth. During his time with this group, he was discipled by the youth pastor and grew in his love for student ministry and middle school students. He served with this group for ten years before coming to Timberline to continue working with middle school youth. Matthew met his wife Sara during his senior year of high school and they married in the summer of 2009. They have had many wonderful adventures together, including moving to Utah for a year to work with a counter-cult ministry and starting a coffee shop in Huxley, Iowa, but their greatest adventure has been found in starting their family. Their daughter, Ariel Hope, was born in December 2015 and is an amazing blessing. Matthew loves spending time with students and helping them to better understand God’s Word and how it applies to their lives. He started his internship at Timberline in March 2016 and he and his family live in Des Moines. He is currently attending Faith Baptist College in Ankeny, working towards a degree in pastoral training.
